Paris, Tenn.–With another big day Monday, the grand total raised so far by the Henry County Helping Hand Radio Auction is now at $214,837.
Bids were often–and very high–Monday as First Christian Church, Habitat for Humanity and the Literacy Council donated 20 slates of items ranging from full meals, pot pies, gumbo, soups, baked goods and more.
And speaking of gumbo, John Van Dyck’s gumbo prompted a bidding war with a final bid of $1,300.
Auctioneer was Ray Compton, with the Athena Delphian Club manning the phones.
Helping Hand officials Monday announced how groups whose days were postponed due to winter weather last week. The Mansfield community day will be Feb. 9; Carl Perkins Center Feb. 15; Buchanan community Feb. 27; and Christ Lutheran March 1.
They are still trying to find the right dates for Joe Mahan Ford, HCHS Soccer Team and Lakewood Beta Club and will announce those soon.
