DANBURY, Conn. – For the third time this season, University of Tennessee at Martin equestrian sophomore Kate Davis has been named the Eastern College Athletic Conference Horsemanship Rider of the Week.
A Williamston, Mich. native, Davis also won the award on Oct. 18 and Oct. 25. She also nabbed the honor during her freshman season (Oct. 19, 2021) and was spotlighted as ECAC Horsemanship Rider of the Month this past October. Overall, four different Skyhawks (Davis, Julia Gilman, Logan Putvinski, Sydney Hott) have combined to win eight ECAC Rider of the Week accolades so far this season.
Davis helped UT Martin to an 11-9 road triumph at South Dakota State last Wednesday, collecting MOP accolades with a 74.5-point effort aboard Milo in horsemanship. It marked her second MOP performance (also winning top honors at Delaware State on Oct. 14) and her third victory of the season.
For the season, Davis boasts a 71.8 scoring average in horsemanship. She is also a regular in the Skyhawks’ reining lineup, garnering a 68.3 scoring average to go along with five head-to-head victories.
UT Martin returns to action this week with its final two home meets of the season. The Skyhawks will play host to Bridgewater at noon on Friday, March 10 before taking on Miami (Ohio) at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 11.
