Gibson, Tenn.–It is with a heavy heart that the Gibson County Sheriffs Office has announced the unexpected passing of K-9 Astor. Lt. Pope was Astor’s partner/handler. Astor served the Citizens of GIbson Co. for eight years. During his career he has made numerous drug cases and criminal apprehensions. In a press release, the sheriff’s office said, “Astor had a great personality and loved coming to work and being around people. He also loved taking people’s drink bottles and chewing them up, but when Lt. Pope gave him the command to work, he was all business. He was fearless and ready to do whatever was asked of him. K-9 Astor will truly be missed. Rest easy Deputy K-9 Astor your job here is done. Keep Lt. Pope and family in your prayers.”
