Nashville, Tenn.–At a press conference in Nashville around 2 p.m., Metro Nashville confirmed that three students and three adult staff members were killed in today’s shooting at Covenant School.
They said that family members have been notified, but declined to share the ages of the student victims at this time.
They identified the shooter as a 28-year-old Nashville woman. They said two MNPD officers who entered the building and went to the sounds of gunfire engaged the shooter on the second floor and fatally shot her.
They said they are investigating to determine any link she had with the school.
Metro police said the shooting began at 10:13 a.m. when the shooter entered the school through a side door. She made her way from the first floor to the second floor and fired multiple shots.
Police said she was armed with two AK-47s and one handgun.
