Union City, Tenn.–Marcos Landeros scored four goals and added an assist, and Jayce Rogers turned away seven shots in goal to lead Union City to a 6-0 road shutout of Gibson County in high school soccer Thursday.
With the win, the Golden Tornadoes improved to 4-2 heading into Spring Break.
Miguel Sanchez – who moved to No. 2 on the program’s career scoring list in UC’s last match — added to that total with another goal and had an assist. Carter Wilson accounted for the Twisters’ other score.
Silverio Acevedo was also good for an assist.
“Offensively, we did a tremendous job creating numerous shot opportunities for each other,” Tornado head coach Travis VanHooser said. “Defensively, I can’t say enough about our constant pressure and communication. James Scates had two excellent defensive stops that preserved the shutout.”
Union City’s next match is scheduled for April 11 at home against Obion Central.
