Student Charged After Bringing Weapon On School Grounds

Paris, Tenn.–Officials at W.O. Inman Middle School are investigating an incident in which a student brought a weapon onto school property.  The incident happened on Monday, April 10th but was not reported to school officials until Tuesday morning. 

There was no threat associated with the incident and it is believed that only one other student saw the weapon while it was on school grounds.  The juvenile has been charged with possessing a weapon on school property and he is being removed from the school under the zero-tolerance policy. 

Paris Police officials said in a press release, “There is no evidence to suggest that there is any ongoing threat to the school or any one at the school currently.  If any person has information about this incident, they are encouraged to contact Captain Jeramye Whitaker at (731)641 1437.”

The Paris Police department is committed to the safety and security of the children at the local schools and will work to resolve any incident such as this in the most thorough and efficient manner.
