Remembering The Fallen At Fort Donelson

Dover, Tenn.–With flags adorning the hundreds of graves at the Fort Donelson Battlefield Cemetery, the annual Memorial Day Service was held Monday with keynote speaker Gold Star parent Gretchen Catherwood of the Darkhorse Lodge in Paris.

Long-time park volunteer John Walsh played ‘Taps’, while recent Stewart County High School graduate Jacob Long played echo. The Fort Campbell Honor Guard was in attendance.

The decades-long event is co-hosted by the Stewart County Veterans Service Office and the National Park Service. Coordination for this year’s event includes the American Legion Dover Post 72, Carl E. Wallace Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4730, and the local chapter of the Disabled American Veterans., with additional veteran organizations participating. Local community representation and scout groups also participated.
