Meeting for its May session, the Paris Utility Authority (PUA) Board of Directors reappointed Michael Murphey to the PUA Board for a four-year term beginning July 1, 2023.  The appointment will be sent to the Paris City Commission for approval at their June meeting.

The Board approved an engineering agreement with OHM, advisors for the construction administration and inspection portion of the Wastewater Treatment Plant Phase 2 rehab project.  The “not to exceed” amount totals $470,000 and will be funded with a previously approved USDA Rural Development loan.

Fiscal year 2024 budgets were presented for all three departments.  Wimberley shared highlights from each budget and detailed planned major capital expenditures.  Wimberley emphasized that there will be no electric rate increase for the fourth consecutive fiscal year.  No action was taken on the budgets.  Budgets will be on the agenda for approval at the June meeting.

In his President’s report, PUA President & CEO, Terry Wimberley, informed the Board that power cost savings have exceeded expectations over the first four months of its operations.  Wimberley also shared a letter from Covington Electric System expressing gratitude for the assistance from Paris BPU line crews following the F3 tornado event of March 31.
