MARTIN, Tenn. – ACT Accelerator Workshops will be offered in June and July by the UT Martin Office of University Outreach for students preparing to take the ACT. Both in-person and online workshops will be held on six days giving students the option of attending “Math and Science” or “English and Reading” sessions. The online courses will be offered over Zoom, so participants must have access to a computer with audio and video capabilities.
The ACT “Math and Science” Zoom accelerator session, part of the ACT Success Tactics Series, will help students solve word problems and interpret data effectively. Class times and dates are 5-7 p.m., Monday, June 5, and Monday, July 10. The classes are $25 each. The ACT “English and Reading” Zoom accelerator session will show students how to correct grammatical errors and read passages more effectively. The two-hour sessions will be offered 5-7 p.m., Tuesday, June 6, and Thursday, July 13.
ACT Accelerator Workshops covering both topics per session will also be offered 5-7 p.m., Thursday, June 1, and Tuesday, July 11. These in-person sessions will be held in 206 Gooch Hall located on the main campus.
For students wanting a quick review before taking the ACT, the ACT “Last-Minute Makeover” Zoom will be offered 5-7 p.m., Friday, June 9, and Friday, June 14.
UT Martin adjunct faculty member Alex Beene will teach the courses. He currently serves as a lead instructor for the Tennessee Audit Education in three counties and primarily works with rising high school juniors and seniors needing academic help with major standardized testing.
