Graves County, Ky.–The suspect in the assault on a 12-year-old girl has been apprehended.
According to Sheriff Jon Hayden, the rape suspect was apprehended on Nicholson Road near Ky Hwy 945.
“To update the search that lasted approximately 16 hours, this suspect has been apprehended in a soybean field.
There is no danger at this time to area residents.
We will release additional information later this evening.
We appreciate everyone assistance, and shares.”

Since early Sunday morning, Graves County Sheriff’s deputies have been searching a rural area near the 2700 block of KY Hwy 945 for an Hispanic male.
Sheriff Jon Hayden said, “It was reported that the suspect was caught in the middle of an assault of a 12 year old female. The suspect fled into open fields and wooded areas prior to law enforcements arrival. It has been reported that the suspect just arrived in the United States and is here illegally.”
The suspect is believed to be Tony Perez, approximately 23 years old.

Hayden said, “It has been reported by victims family that he isn’t wearing any shoes, in addition to not being familiar with the area. Anyone in the area are urged to use caution and contact authorities immediately if they happen to see this suspect in the area. Call 911. Authorities will continue to search and be in the area.”
An emergency telephone notification system is being utilized also to alert area residents.
