Mayfield, Ky.–This one’s for you, Mayfield. From Country Music Star Trace Adkins.
Adkins’ music video, “Somewhere in America” has been released and it is a tribute to the resilience of Mayfield, Ky. after an EF-4 tornado devastated the town in December 2021, killing 24 people and destroying homes, businesses, and government buildings.
The video really tugs at the heartstrings and shows parts of Adkins’ free concert for Mayfield in May, along with glimpses of the devastation and rebuilding, Mayor Kathy O’Nan, WPSD Weatherman Trent Okerson, sheriff’s deputies, Rescue Squad workers, Governor Andy Beshear and others.
The song was written by Jon Nite, Hunter Phelps, Michael Hardy and Zach Crowell and produced by Mickey Jack Cones and Derek George. Andrew Rozario and Mike Stryker produced the video and Stryker.
The video opens with Adkins visiting the memorial in downtown Mayfield on the spot where the courthouse used to stand. Adkins said, “Reading the names of those who lost their lives was moving. ‘Somewhere in America’ is about the heart left in this land, and the citizens of Mayfield exemplify that.”
The video can be viewed on the city of Mayfield Facebook page and on Trace Adkins’ Facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/traceadkins/videos/1003518210683655
