Dresden, Tenn.–Funeral arrangements for the late Sen. Roy Herron have been announced.
The family has announced visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Friday, July 14, and from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday, July 15, at the First United Methodist Church in Martin. The service will be held at the church at 2 p.m. Saturday. The church is located at 225 Main St. in Martin.
Herron’s wife, Nancy Carol said in a post on CaringBridge: “As many of you already know, Roy passed away on Sunday, July 9, 2023, due to injuries he received in a jet ski collision on Saturday, July 1. The boys and I are heartbroken, but we feel held up by prayers and support from Roy’s many friends.”
Videographers will be present so you can make a video of your favorite “Roy story,” which will be cherished by his sons and shared with his future grandchildren, she said.
Burial will be at Sunset Cemetery in Dresden. Arrangements are being made by Murphy Funeral Home in Martin.
After the service, there will be a party celebrating Roy’s life, she said. The location is set tentatively for Blake’s B-B-Que in Martin. The address is 312 N. Lindell Street.
“For those of you who can’t make it on Saturday, another celebration/wake to tell ‘Roy stories’ is being planned, again tentatively, for 1410 Rosa L. Parks in Nashville, Tennessee on September 30, which would have been Roy’s 70th birthday.
