Dyersburg Police K9 Rex Injured By Lightning

Dyersburg, Tenn.–Dyersburg police K9 Rex was injured when storms rolled through Dyer County. K9 Rex was off duty at the time and was at home with his handler K9 Officer Brandon Haynes when lighting struck near his kennel. Officer Haynes observed Rex in distress and immediately rushed Rex to the Animal Care Clinic in Dyersburg for emergency care. Rex’s injuries are consistent with an electrocution and he remains in the care of the Animal Care Clinic. K9 Rex and his handler Officer Haynes are such an important part of the DPD family. Police Department officials said, “We are wishing him a complete recovery. A special thank you to the team at the Animal Care Clinic for their afterhours emergency care for our buddy K9 Rex.” (Dyersburg PD photo).
