Paris, Tenn.–With the September 1 date to close the Henry County Medical Center OB department looming, the Northwest Tennessee Cares organization is planning a gathering Tuesday morning to show support for keeping the OB open.

Officials with Northwest Tennessee Cares is asking everyone to gather from 6:30-8:30 a.m. in the back parking area nearest the Loden clinic.

A sign-making station will be set up for those wanting to make a sign or you can make your own. Or you can bring your ‘Save HCMC OB’ yard sign, if you have one.

Officials said, “This is designed to boost morale for HCMC OB and the entire hospital” and ask that everyone be positive with no negative messages.

“Please bring a friend and a sign reminding staff, administration and the community: HCMC.. We’re so glad you’re here!!
If you can’t come please drive by and honk like your life depends on it!!!”. they said.
In a surprise announcement May 26, the hospital’s CEO John Tucker said that HCMC will cease providing OB services on Sept. 1. Seeking ways to keep the hospital financially viable has been the main objective the last several months for Tucker and the board, he said. He explained that the hospital will reorganize the Paris Women’s Center to begin offering only gynecologic services.
