Dyer County, Tenn.–By unanimous vote, Dyer County Sheriff Jeff Box was elected President of the Tennessee Sheriff’s Association for the year 2023-2024, representing Tennessee’s 95 outstanding Sheriffs.
Box thanked his fellow sheriffs for their unanimous vote and confidence. “It is my absolute honor and privilege to serve as your 2023-2024 Tennessee Sheriff’s Association President. I would like to thank all the Sheriffs for the vote of confidence you bestowed upon me. Thank you Sheriff Blackwelder for nominating me and TBI Director David Rausch for administering our Oaths of Office,” he said.
The following is Sheriff Box’ speech at the Sheriff’s Association upon his election:
“I would like to thank the Past Presidents who came before me and their contributions which have made us a great organization.
“It’s also a great privilege for me to build upon the accomplishments of our immediate Past-President Sheriff Robert Bryan. I will do my best to continue the traditions of excellence and professionalism that the Tennessee Sheriff’s Association is known for nationwide.
“I look forward to working with each you in a way that affects our communities and our Sheriff’s Offices in a positive way.
It’s often said that with challenge comes opportunity, these past couple of years have been some of the most challenging times that law enforcement has ever seen. We will move past these challenges and take advantage of the opportunities in front of us.
“The Tennessee Sheriff’s Association must continue to be a voice to our legislators and be a vital part in shaping the future of public safety in Tennessee.
“Thank you to our legistlative consultants and each of the great agencies represented here tonight.
As Sheriffs, we all will continue to work together to maintain public trust and confidence. As your Sheriff’s Association President, I will need each of you to help me with your talents and abilities as we serve as advocates for our communities.
Again, I look forward to seeing you all at our meetings this year so we can support each other, share ideas, and learn from each other’s successes and failures.
“I’m very excited about the future and having a very productive year, thank you again for giving me the privilege of serving as President of the Tennessee Sheriff’s Association. If you need me at anytime day or night, please don’t hesitate to call.
“I also thank my wife Brandy and my family for their love and support. I appreciate what I have learned from all the Sheriffs that comprise the TSA since 2010. I also would like to recognize my great staff and the outstanding TSA staff we have supporting us.
“Again, thank each of you for helping me fulfill one of my goals in my career and my life.
“The Bible tells us in Psalms Chapter 94 verses 1 through 3 that : “The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.”
“We will not do nothing, we will not stand silent nor will we stand alone. As Tennessee Sheriff’s we will stand 95 Strong.”
