MCKENZIE, Tenn. – The Bethel Bass Fishing team along with Senior Athletic Director Brad Chappell and Head Fishing Coach Garry Mason visited the Caymas Boat Company this past Friday to pick up Bethels’ brand-new boat, motor, and trailer package.
During the visit to the Ashland City  plant, the owner, Earl Bentz took the group of Bethel anglers through his boat building facility. The Bethel squad was able to see the manufacturing of new boats and learn from Bentz just how fiberglass bass boats are made.
The group picked up the Bethel boat from the factory while on tour of the factory.
Monday afternoon the entire team gathered around the school’s new boat and along with President Walter Butler and Chappell, pulled the cover off the new boat.
The new Caymas bass boat is a sleek twenty-foot boat and is powered by a new two hundred and twenty-five horsepower Mercury motor. The boat has two new Garmin depth finders with live scope technology and a Garmin trolling motor up front to keep the boat in position while fishing.
Dark grey in color with purple stripes down the sides, the boat really stands out as a beautiful as well as a functional watercraft.
“That’s one of the prettiest boats that I have ever seen,” Bethel President Butler said as the cover was taken off of the boat. “I can’t wait to take a ride in it.”
The new boat will spend the next couple of weeks getting the motor broken in by Coach Mason and will see its first tournament during the Bassmasters Classic Bracket championship in Kansas in September.
“The new Bethel Caymas Bass boat will also be seen in parades and other community events in and around Carroll County and surrounding counties to help support and promote Bethel University and its fishing program,” said Coach Garry Mason.
Mason added, “We are very proud of our new Caymas boat, and we wish to thank everyone involved in helping to make this happen.”
A special thanks to Mr. Earl Bentz and all the employees of Caymus Boats for producing such a beautiful boat package for The Bethel University Bass Fishing Team.
The purchase of the boat was made possible by combining previous winnings with the sale of outdated equipment/boats.
