Ms. Maxine ‘Mickey’ Manners, 88, of Dover, Tennessee, was called home to be with the Lord Sunday, September 3, 2023, at Signature Healthcare with her loving family by her side.
She was born Tuesday, April 2, 1935, the beloved daughter of the late Wilbur and Ella Mae Gray.
Maxine was a devout Christian woman and a member of Dover Church of Christ.
After her retirement from the school system, she enjoyed baby-sitting in her home.
Maxine loved working in her flowers and in her yard.
She was an avid reader.
She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and a friend to everyone.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband: Henry Manners, Jr.; sisters: Colleen Yeoman and Lois Wallace; brothers: Steven Gray and Orman Gray.
She is survived by her loving family: son: Arnold Lemons (Lynn), of Erin, Tennessee; daughters: Connie Dortch (Kenny), of Dover, Tennessee, Sheila Neal (Al), of Carlisle, Tennessee, Lisa Brooks, of Dover, Tennessee, and Trina Ross (Billy), of Erin, Tennessee; sisters: Linda Hamm and Rita Hargis, both of Dover, Tennessee; 11 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and faithful fur baby: Low Blow.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 6, 2023, for 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Anglin Funeral Home. Visitation will resume Thursday, September 7, 2023 at 12:00 p.m. and continue until the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. with Bro. Johnny Polk officiating.
Grandsons serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Austin Dortch, Bryce Brigham and Blane Brigham.
Burial will follow at Hart Cemetery.
