Geneva Frances Conger, 96, of Paris, Tennessee, died Sunday, October 22, 2023, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital in Jackson, Tennessee.
Geneva was born Tuesday, November 16, 1926, in Paris, Tennessee, to the late Robert Clayton and the late Nobie Ora Barnhill Clayton.
She formerly worked at Salant & Salant, Clippard, and Mitchum in Paris.
She retired from Holly Carburetor in Paris.
Geneva enjoyed quilting, embroidering, gardening, and mowing her yard.
She was an active member of Springhill Baptist Church.
She was married Tuesday, December 28, 1943, to Elroy Buck Conger, who preceded her in death Sunday, October 1, 2000.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by one daughter: Demona Barrett; one grandson: Jamie Conger; and five brothers: Ellis Clayton, Eulus Clayton, J.D. Clayton, Elisha Clayton, and Benny Green.
She is survived by two daughters: Wanda Burke and Frances Conger, both of Paris, Tennessee; three sons: Sam (Lela) Conger, of Henry, Tennessee, Danny (Agnes) Conger, of Hollow Rock, Tennessee, and John (Donna) Conger, of Paris, Tennessee; son-in-law: Gary Barrett, of Paris, Tennessee; nine grandchildren: Angela Carol Conger, Jace Plantagenet, Melanie Conger, Jill Conger, Lori Bowden, Anthony Clayton, Isaac (Brittani) Conger, David (Leighann) Barrett, and Samantha Barrett; and 10 great-grandchildren: Gage Conger, Hunter Bowden, Courtney Bowden, Haylie Clayton, Rowan Conger, Phoenix Conger, Abbey (Drew) Dodd, Austin Conger, Garrison Barrett, and Alayna Barrett; and two great-great grandchildren: Blakely Dodd and John Dodd.
Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap Street/PO Box 788, Paris, Tennessee, 38242.
Visitation will be Tuesday, October 24, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at Ridgeway Funeral Home, and continue Wednesday, October 25, 2023, from 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. at Springhill Baptist Church at 1301 Springhill Road, Paris, Tennessee.
The funeral service will be Wednesday, October 25, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at Springhill Baptist Church, with Gary Collier officiating.
Serving as pallbearers will be David Barrett, Isaac Conger, Jace Plantagenet, Mason Conger, Joe Clayton, Josh Jenkins, Austin Conger, and Hunter Bowden.
Burial will be in Van Dyke Grove Cemetery in Paris, Tennessee.
