Dover, Tenn.–Join Fort Donelson National Battlefield in Dover throughout this Veterans Day holiday weekend for some very special programs.
Friday, November 10th
10:00 AM “Exchanging Iron Valentines”
at the River Batteries (Tour Stop #4)
Join a park ranger and learn about the exciting and unprecedented events of February 14, 1862, when the new, “state of the art” ironclad gunboats of the Union Western flotilla took on engagement with the heavily fortified river batteries of Confederate Fort Donelson.

2:00 PM “Ungenerous and Unchivalrous terms”
at the Dover Hotel/”Surrender House” (Tour Stop #10), 101 Petty Street
Join a park ranger for a program about the surrender of almost 13,000 Confederate soldiers and its impact on the war effort. The Dover Hotel was the site of that memorable meeting between Generals Ulysses Grant and Simon Buckner.
