Ravon “Sonny” Riggins

Mr. Ravon “Sonny” Riggins, 84, of Dover, Tennessee, passed away Sunday, November 12, 2023, at his residence with his loving family by his side.

He was born in Stewart County Saturday, May 6, 1939, the beloved son of the late Glenn and Edith Young Riggins. In addition to his parents, he preceded in death by his brothers: Blane Riggins, Tony Riggins and Scotty Riggins.

Sonny was a hard worker and provider for his family.

He worked many years as a mechanic for Gibbs Ford Motor Company.

He went on to work for Civil Service for 21 years where he retired.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and loyal friend to many.

He loved his grandchildren dearly.

Sonny was a member of Trinity Methodist Church of Dover, Tennessee.

He is survived by his cherished family, the love of his life of 65 years marriage, wife: Gertrude Atkins Riggins; daughters: Rita Boone (Marty Deien), and Kara Ford (Jimmy); brothers: David Riggins, and Marty Riggins; sisters: Joan Simpson, and Mable Barnhill; grandchildren: Brent Boone, Hunter Ford, Colton Ford, and Caitlin Ford; four great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held Tuesday, November 14, 2023, from 11:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at Anglin Funeral Home Chapel.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. at Trinity Cemetery, Dover, Tennessee, with Bro. Joe Shannon officiating.

Those serving as pallbearers are: Jimmy Ford, Hunter Ford, Colton Ford, Brent Boone, Gary Threatt, Andy Kent, and Mike Atkins.
