Dover, Tenn.–Attention Stargazers!
Come join us at Fort Donelson National Battlefield for a special evening astronomy program at Tour Stop #4 (River Batteries) this coming Sunday, November 19th at 5:30 PM.
Join us to learn about the night sky, learning some tips and tricks in the use of a simple sky measuring guide.
We will be stargazing in hopes of seeing a variety of stars such as Rigel, Arcturus, Polaris, and the stars that make the Corona Borealis constellation.
If we are lucky, we will catch some of the end of the Taurid meteor shower.
We hope to see you there!
NOTE: Please wear comfortable shoes and dress appropriately, as it may become chilly near the water.
A limited number of flashlights with red filters will be loaned out for use during the evening, as white lights create distraction and diminish night viewing.
Night sky programs are dependent on a lack of cloud cover, so stay tuned to the park’s facebook page or call the visitor center at 1-931-232-5706 for updated information.
