As of 5 p.m., the Gibson Electric Membership Corp. had 951 members without power. The majority are in north Gibson County. Officials said damage is so extensive in its service area that service probably will not be restored tonight.
Officials said, “We’ve brought in our crews from throughout our 12-county service area and we have 8 contractor crews assisting with service restoration (3 from Service Electric and 2 from Crews Electric). We are continuing to work as quickly as possible, but unfortunately, damage is so extensive that we do not expect service to be restored tonight. If you are in the Rutherford area and you must have electricity for safety or health, you may want to seek alternative accommodations.
“We are very sorry for this inconvenience and appreciate your continued patience. We also are grateful to our employees and to those of our contractors. Thank you for all you are doing to take care of our members!”
