
Paris, Tenn.–The Inman School tornado shelter in Paris is opening today as a community storm shelter as the National Weather Service has issued a tornado warning for our area.
Henry County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) Director Ron Watkins said around noon that a tornado has been spotted south of Sharon. “I think that’s what triggered the tornado warning from Henry County,” he said.
Meteorologist Reed Timmer broadcast on Facebook live, stating that a tornado had touched down in Sharon and was on the way to Dresden “at 50 mph and that’s very fast.”
Everyone is warned to take shelter immediately. The NWS says the tornado warning is in effect until 12:30 p.m.
Meanwhile, 12/9/2023 12:00pm, The Gateway Center at 701 N Lindell St in Martin is open as a storm shelter, as is the New Life Pentecostal Church at 221 Pillowville Gleason Rd.
At of 12:30 p.m., the Sharon Fire Department reports no damage in Sharon.
