Kenton, Tenn.–Kenton officials are angry that a fire was set at the base of the city’s new mural Saturday evening.
The mural welcomes everyone to Kenton and depicts the famous white squirrels that inhabit the town. The mural was created by Ben Zaricor.
The City of Kenton is asking for anyone who may have information on the fire that was set at the base of the mural to contact the Kenton Police Department or the Obion County Sheriff’s Office. The City of Kenton is offering a $1,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest of the individual or individuals responsible.
Kenton Mayor Danny Jowers said, “Words can’t describe how angry and utterly perplexed I am right now. Between 955 and 1000pm on December 30th someone using motor oil and fire attempted to burn the sign which we erected in the downtown area. Let me be very clear, we had multiple cameras on the sign and it will be a matter of time before YOUR identity will be known.”
