Dyer County Deputy Hit By Semi

dyer-co-so

Dyer County, Tenn.–A Dyer County Deputy  was traveling non-emergency on Highway 51 and was struck by a commercial motor vehicle (semi truck) this morning.
The semi pulled out in front of the deputy and despite all reasonable efforts to avoid a crash, the semi hit his patrol unit.
The deputy suffered what is believed to be non-life threatening injuries but is being taken to the local ER for evaluation and treatment. The commercial motor vehicle driver was not injured.
THP is the lead investigative agency. This is still an active scene awaiting wreckers – please be cautious and avoid highway 51 near the airport.
Dyer County Sheriff’s Office asks you to remember him in your prayers as he recovers. “Incidents like these remind us of the dangers associated with the job and we appreciate the public’s support for those who put it all on the line day after day. Please be careful – especially when driving conditions are not optimal.”
