Area Turnout Very Low For Early Voting Period

Paris and Union City, Tenn.–Turnout was extremely low in both Henry and Obion Counties during the Early Voting period that ended yesterday.

In Henry County, a total of 1,175 voted (956 Republican and 219 Democrat). Of those, 976 people voted in person.

In Obion County, a total of 642 voted (Republican 558 and Democrat 84). Obion County Elections Administrator Leigh Schlager said, “I have worked here 16 years, and this is the lowest turnout we have ever had.”

The presidential preference primary and county primary election will be March 5, at which point voters will have to cast ballots at voting centers.
