The mental health crisis in schools is the focus of the 2024 West Tennessee Education Summit to be held 8 a.m.-1:45 p.m., Friday, March 8, at the UT AgResearch and Education Center in Jackson.

The summit is sponsored by the UT Martin WestStar Program’s WestTeach class of 2023 and will bring together educators, business leaders, school and district leaders, high school students and elected officials to discuss challenges and opportunities surrounding the mental health crisis and how these issues are affecting education.

The March 8 program will explore possible solutions to mental-health challenges in the schools through a series of panels that will outline the situation, address possible solutions, and explore non-profit resources for children and youth. Ten resource booths will be available for participants to visit.

Register online at www.utm.edu/weststar and select “Conferences and Events” where the West Tennessee Education Summit registration link is located in the dropdown menu. Additional information is also available by calling 731-881-7298.

WestTeach is a teacher-development initiative created as a class project by the University of Tennessee at Martin’s WestStar Leadership Program class of 2017. The Leaders Education Foundation is the signature sponsor for WestTeach.
