Land Between The Lakes–A prescribed burn in the Land Between the Lakes area has drawn a lot of attention. Area fire departments have been reassuring the public today that they need not be alarmed.
The LBL has been posting public notices on its Facebook page and other social media for several days, stating that fire crews were planning to conduct a 2,461 acre prescribed burn today.
The burn area is emitting smoke that can be seen for miles around. The burn area is located in the Crooked Creek area just north of the Elk & Bison Prairie. Smoke should be moving south and will effect the Trace, Golden Pond Visitor Center, Elk & Bison Prairie and possibly Wranglers Campground.
LBL officials said, “Please be aware of wildland firefighters working when traveling near the prescribed burn area.”
