
Paris, Tenn.–Randy Geiger of Paris is the Henry County Republican Party’s candidate for the office of Henry County Mayor in the upcoming August general election. Geiger was chosen by the Republican Party at its March caucus.
Geiger and his wife Gwen Foster Geiger have been married 41 years and have two children and six grandchildren. Gwen is a Henry County native. The couple is active in their local church and in the community.
A West Point graduate, Geiger served in the U.S. Army for 20 years, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel. He earned both the Airborne and Air Assault tabs and is also a graduate of the Naval Postgraduate School with a Master’s Degree in Operations Research. His last assignment was in the Pentagon working for the Army Chief of Staff in the Program Analysis and Evaluation Office which entailed managing the Army funding for the next five years. During his years of service in the Artillery, Military Intelligence and Operations Research Branches, Randy earned numerous awards and decorations, including the Legion of Merit.
After retiring to Paris, Geiger has served as a high school math teacher, community bank president, realtor, election commissioner, and reserve deputy sheriff/school resource officer. Additionally, he has served as treasurer for both the Chamber of Commerce Board and the Henry County Republican Party. Geiger is currently a member of the Henry County Election Commission.
Geiger said he views the office of Henry County Mayor as an opportunity to continue to serve the local community and, if elected, he commits to transparently working alongside fellow Henry Countians to address any challenges that lie ahead.
Current Henry County Mayor John Penn Ridgeway said earlier he has accepted the position of President of the Tennessee College of Applied Technology Henry/Carroll and his resignation will be effective June 30, 2024.
