The Henry County High School Speech Team competed in their District Tournament on Saturday April 6th at Rossview High School in Clarksville.
This was a qualifying tournament for the state contest coming up on April 20.
HCHS had 5 students qualify for the 2024 State Speech & Debate Tournament.
Sophomore Mattie McCormick placed 4th in Prose, Senior Mac White placed 2nd in Informative Speaking, Freshman Canaan Barrow placed 4th in Dramatic Interpretation and Senior Aiden Gooch placed 2nd in Dramatic Interpretation.
Freshman Timothy Tyler was also the District Champion in Poetry Interpretation.
These five Henry County students will travel back to Clarksville in a few weeks to compete against the entire state of Tennessee at the state tournament which will be held at Clarksville High School this year.
The team is coached by David Weatherly.
