A Tennessee Highway Patrol trooper was airlifted to a Nashville hospital after he was rear-ended this afternoon near the Benton/Henry County line.
Trooper Douglas Williams is reportedly in serious condition at Skyline Medical Center but his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. He was driving his THP motorcycle on Hwy. 641S when the accident occured.
Traffic was stopped both ways on the highway for hours following the accident as paramedics arrived and the investigation began. Numerous first responders, including several THP vehicles were on the scene.
No official word yet on the condition of the other driver.
The preliminary report from the THP has not yet been released, but we will update when it is released.
