Sandra Frances “Sandra” Carter

Sandra Frances “Sandy” Carter, age 79 of Paris, TN, passed away on Monday, April 28, 2025, at her residence.

Sandy was born in Paris, TN, on July 21, 1945, to the late Ben Howard Pinkston and the late Elah Webb Pinkston.

On December 7, 1996, Sandy married the late Larry Carter.

Sandy and Larry owned and operated Carter Sales and Service for decades. She loved Elvis Presley, enjoyed painting, spending time with her animals, and watching Westerns. She was known for her quick wit and striking sense of humor.

She is survived by three children, Paul H. Russell of Annville, KY, Amanda Fennell of Indianapolis, IN, and Eric (Shauna) Carter of Murfreesboro, TN; three grandchildren, Kara Michelle Russell, Austin Blake Medlock, and Jameson Carter; one great-grandchild, Avacyn Medlock; numerous nieces and nephews; and her life-long friend and neighbor, Nancy Lassiter.

In addition to her husband and her parents, Sandy was preceded in death by three sisters, Bonnie Bowden, Faye Schrader, and Mildred Normand-Vessey; and one brother, Ben Rhea Pinkston.

Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap Street, Paris, TN, 38242, is handling the arrangements. In 1973, Elvis rerecorded the song “My Way.” Sandy followed her favorite artist’s lead and made her final wishes her way. In accordance with her wishes, a Graveside Service will be held at Sandy Point Cemetery in Camden, TN, on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. with Chad Kennedy officiating.

In Lieu of flowers, Memorials can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105.
