
Puryear, Tenn.–It’s time for the annual Puryear Day celebration with all kinds of activities, including a grand parade, live bands, dancing, 10K walk/run, arts and crafts vendors, obstacle course and slide, kids games, Lions Club BBQ and dogs and much more.
The starts Friday night, May 16, with the James Greer Band, dancing and a dessert auction. All that will take place beginning at 5 p.m. and going until 10 p.m.
Saturday May 17 is jam-packed with activities, including the 5k/10K walk/run at 6:30 a.m. and Grand Parade at 10 a.m. Radio personalities from WTPR and Froggy will be there, with WTPR doing a remote broadcast from 10 until noon. Gregory Dan Story will be Grand Marshal of the parade this year.
The Puryear Fire Department will have an open house after the parade.
Other Saturday activities include the arts and crafts show, bouncy houses, kids’ games, cake walk, cornhole tournament, at 1 p.m. the birthday cake for Puryear’s 116th birthday will be served on the community center, karaoke and from 1- 2p.m., there will be a Strongman exhibition and dump truck pull. The Fajita Brothers will perform from 7-10 p.m. Lions Club BBQ and hot dogs, Holly Pop, “Geebers” Lemonades & Foods, Nana’s Treats will all be set up on the grounds.
