On Tuesday, Aug. 19, the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) reached a preliminary peak demand of 32,270 megawatts at a system average temperature of 96°. This is the highest demand so far this summer, surpassing the previous peak of 31,888 MW on July 30. A few more hot days are expected before temperatures moderate later this week, with temperatures already feeling more pleasant today.
