
Mayfield, Ky.–A 14-year-old male from Fulton, KY, has been arrested and charged with Assault 1st Degree after being involved in the shooting incident Friday night in Mayfield during the fourth quarter of the “Battle of the Birds” high school football game.
The suspect shot 18-year-old Jordan Riley from Farmington, KY. The victim suffered a serious gunshot wound to his arm and upper torso, and was subsequently airlifted to a Nashville hospital, where he is currently in stable condition.
Mayfield Police said the investigation revealed that the shooting occurred following a physical altercation between the victim and another juvenile, during which the suspect discharged his weapon. The 14-year-old shooter has been charged, and is now being held at a juvenile detention center. The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities are urging anyone with information, or witnesses to the incident, to contact the Mayfield Police Department.
The Mayfield Police Department was assisted by the Kentucky State Police, the Graves County Sheriff’s Office, the Carlisle County Sheriff’s Office, Mayfield EMS, the Fulton Police Department, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (ATF.)

Meanwhile, the Graves County Sheriff’s Office announced a prayer gathering scheduled for Sunday, August 24, 2025, at the Mayfield-Graves County Fairgrounds. The event will begin at 6 p.m.
