PARIS, TN – Henry County High School (HCHS) students are being offered an opportunity to jumpstart their college careers and save thousands of dollars through expanded dual enrollment offerings with Dyersburg State Community College (DSCC) at the Henry County Center at E.W. Grove.
This partnership allows local students to earn both high school and college credit by taking DSCC courses right here in Henry County.
Shannon Mayo, Director of the Henry County Center, highlights the financial advantage for students and their families. “Our goal is for students to come out of our program debt-free,” Mayo stated. “We love the opportunity this new space has given us to expand our educational programs.”
The Henry County Center’s new facilities have paved the way for several in-demand programs to be offered locally, including Emergency Management Systems Advanced classes and a unique advanced standing Registered Nurse (RN) program.
“Students are now able to get their R.N. without leaving Henry County,” Mayo added. She explained the comprehensive pathway now available: “A student at HCHS can obtain their CNA, go to TCAT for their LPN, and finish at DSCC with their RN. This has not been possible before this center opened.”
This integrated approach to healthcare education provides a direct and local route to becoming a Registered Nurse, meeting a critical workforce need in the community.
DSCC saw significant participation in the program last year, serving 206 Henry County School System students in the fall of 2024. The college continues to actively recruit for the current academic year, encouraging more local students to take advantage of this accelerated, debt-reducing opportunity.
Students and parents interested in learning more about dual enrollment options and the new educational pathways at the Henry County Center are encouraged to contact the DSCC Henry County Center or the Henry County High School counseling office.
