Buchanan, Tenn.–Blossomway Garden Club has been awarded another $1000 Grant from the Endowment Trust Fund of Tennessee Federation of Garden Clubs, Inc. to continue work on the community beautification project on Hwy 79N next to AMVET Post 45 in Buchanan.

Blossomway was awarded $1000 from the TFGC last year to begin the project.  So far, seven large, raised beds have been installed and planted with evergreens, perennials and annuals.  A picnic table and a swing have also been added, and a bird house tree has been painted on the side of the building.  Banners have been hung to promote special holidays such as Memorial Day, Christmas Day, etc.

Plans for the coming year include a wildflower planting on the highway side of the raised beds, ground covers, another arbor, more seating and a whimsical raised bed on the side of the building.  Blossomway spokesperson Lee Owenby said, “We are looking for a canoe to convert to a raised bed.”

Blossomway Garden is open to the public.  Plants are labeled. The painted tree, banners, and flowers make great back drops for photos.  The swing is a great place to sit and relax.

“During the growing season, 2 to 10 garden club members frequent the garden to work on a weekly basis.  It’s been fun.  We’ve made new friends and learned more about gardening. For more information look for us on Facebook at Blossomway Garden Club,” Owenby said.
