Scarecrows On The Square Break Records This Year

noon-25-commerc-bnk

Paris, Tenn.–Have you seen the artist painting the Mona Lisa on the courtsquare? It’s just one of a record-breaking number of homemade scarecrows on the courtsquare in downtown Paris. There are 27 entries this year for the Scarecrows On The Square event, which runs through October and is sponsored by the Downtown Paris Association. Committee Chair Carly Wheat said the scarecrows were judged yesterday and winners will be announced originality, construction, and presentation.  Prizes will be awarded for People’s Choice, Most Original, Best Constructed, Best in Show and Honorable Mention.  The People’s Choice will be judged by the public later this month on the Downtown Paris Association Facebook page. As for the Mona Lisa, it’s an interactive scarecrow and especially good for photo ops. It was designed by Mary Allen and Elizabeth Cook of Commercial Bank & Trust. (Shannon McFarlin photo).
