Paris, Tenn.–The Dixie Carter Performing Arts Center’s Ballroom Gallery is proud to present Modern Icons, a new art exhibition by Paris, Tennessee artist Dan Knowles. The exhibit will be on display from Thursday, November 6, 2025 through Friday, January 23, 2026.

An artist reception will be held on Friday, November 14, 2025, from 5:00–7:00 p.m., where guests are invited to meet the artist and hear firsthand about his creative process. The reception is free and open to the public.

Modern Icons showcases the multi-disciplinary artistry of Dan Knowles – a painter, inlay artist, musician, instrument builder, singer, writer, and composer. His visual work draws inspiration from the surrealism of Salvador Dalí and the pointillism of Georges Seurat, blending these influences into a style uniquely his own. Knowles studied under noted watercolorist Dan Peterson, whose mentorship helped shape his strong foundation in composition and design.

He also has painted several murals in downtown Paris highlighting the community’s history.

In addition to his work as a visual artist, Knowles is a national banjo champion who has performed on the Grand Ole Opry, and the instruments he builds are played by top musicians around the country. His paintings are held in private collections worldwide.

The Ballroom Gallery is free and open to the public Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
