Martin, Tenn.–A Union City man was taken into custody on charges of rape, kidnapping, aggravated kidnapping and more following an investigation of an earlier incident in Martin.
On 09/15, Patrol Officers from the Martin Police Department responded to the area of 805 North Lindell St. in reference to a domestic dispute. Two females were at the location with Robert Michael Higgins, age 46 of Union City. They both said that Higgins had become violent with them, assaulted them and taken their personal property. At that time and date, Higgins was arrested for domestic assault.
Upon completion of a thorough investigation and further interviews with the two female victims, it was discovered that Higgins had allegedly raped one of the female victims inside of a semi-truck that had been parked at this location, taken their personal property and held the female victims against their will.
At the completion of this investigation, Higgins has been charged with 2 counts of theft of property, 1 count of kidnapping, 1 count of aggravated kidnapping, 1 count of rape, 1 count of burglary and 1 count of criminal attempt. These warrants were issued in addition to the original 2 counts of domestic assault.
Higgins is being held in the Weakley County Detention Center.
