A group of Union City High School seniors recently celebrated National Manufacturing Day by touring two local industries.

Excel Boats and Tyson opened their doors to UCHS students, allowing them to witness the potential of modern manufacturing and to foster interest in manufacturing careers.

The two companies took advantage of the opportunity to highlight their work, their employees, and to energize a future pipeline of skilled/professional laborers.

Among those Union City seniors to take advantage of the opportunity were Emme Allen, Bryce Daniels, Kayden Dowell, Whitley Jenkins, Christian Jones, Sam Jones, Martez Liphford, and Addy McClannahan.

Also part of the UCHS contingent were Tucker Morton, Kendyn Moss, Trey Pitts, Aiden Reid, Brody Riley, Natalie Soto, Elyonna Vaugn, Bryce Wilson, and Tayshun Gentry.

“This was a wonderful opportunity for our students to learn about these businesses right here in Union City,” said Union City High School Career Counselor Lisa Carson.

“With tremendous opportunities to create our future and the significant impact manufacturing has on our economy, we need more young people and adults to envision their future in manufacturing.”
