
Obion County, Tenn. — On Thursday, November 6, 2025, the Joint Economic Development Council (JEDC) held its annual Awards Banquet at Discovery Park of America. The evening celebrated leadership, partnership, and community growth across Obion County.
Lauren Kendall, Communications Director for Obion County Schools, was named the 2025 Ambassador of the Year, recognizing her outstanding commitment to community engagement and partnership throughout the county.
Obion County Schools was also named 2025 Business Partner of the Year, sharing this honor with Union City Schools. This award highlights the ongoing collaboration between both districts and local industries to strengthen workforce readiness and student success across Obion County. Assistant Director of Schools Greg Barclay and Communications Director Lauren Kendall accepted the award on behalf of Obion County Schools.
The Past Chairman Award was presented to Art Sparks by JEDC Executive Director Lindsey Frilling. The wooden plaque presented to Sparks was handcrafted by students in the Obion County Central High School Mechatronics and Carpentry programs, showcasing their talent and the district’s dedication to providing students with real-world, career-based learning opportunities.
