Betty Cleaver

Betty Lowe Cleaver age 77 of Paris, TN, died Thursday November 6, 2025, at Patriot Healthcare in Paris.

 

Betty attended Bridge of Hope Church in Paris. A proud graduate of Grove High School, she earned a degree from Murray State University at the age of 64 in social work. Betty served as Vice President on the Tennessee State Board of Literacy. She also served with AmeriCorps, where she received a special reward for service to her local community. Betty is remembered for being a delivery person for the PI at an early age, her time spent working in the floral department at Kroger, and for talking to everyone.

 

She was married on September 13, 1969, to Thomas “Tom” Cleaver who preceded her in death on March 28, 2022.

 

Born December 14, 1947, in Paris, TN, she was the daughter of the late Lester Lowe and the late Robbie Thompson Lowe.

 

She is survived by her daughter, Paula Ragsdale of Bruceton, TN; a sister, Sandra (Frelon) Newsome of Livingston, TX; a brother, Randall Lowe of Paris, TN; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a special brother-in-law and friend, John Cleaver; a special niece, Stephanie Robison; and tons of nieces and nephews.

 

Besides her husband and parents, Betty was also preceded in death by her son Tracy Cleaver, and a sister, Barbara Bowden.

 

Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St, Paris, TN. Visitation will be Monday, November 10, 2025, from 12 pm – 2 pm at Ridgeway Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 2:00 pm Monday, November 10, 2025, with Chad Kennedy and Jess Hedges officiating.

 

Family members will serve as pallbearers.

 

Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park in Paris, TN.
