NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security released preliminary statistics recording 8 traffic fatalities during the 2025 Thanksgiving holiday travel period, matching the 8 fatalities recorded during the same period last year. The fatalities were reported in the following counties: McNairy, Shelby, Franklin, Marion, Franklin (2), Washington, Wilson, and Williamson. Tennessee Highway Patrol troopers responded to 902 motorist assist calls statewide. These calls included disabled vehicles, flat tires, and other roadside incidents. Troopers also investigated 566 property damage crashes and 243 injury crashes during the holiday window. The Department of Safety and Homeland Security said troopers maintained increased enforcement and visibility as travel volumes rose across the state, with troopers stationed every 20 miles. Preliminary figures may be updated as reports are finalized. |
