
Dyersburg, Tennessee –– Dyersburg State Community College proudly celebrated its Fall 2025 Nursing Class during a heartfelt Nurse Pinning Ceremony held on Thursday, December 11, at the E.H. Lannom, Jr. Gymnasium on the Dyersburg campus. The ceremony was filled with warmth, pride, and a shared commitment to nursing as graduates were honored for their significant achievements.
Dyersburg State also has a center in Paris.
The event commenced with an invocation delivered by Ms. Lisa Johnson, setting a reflective tone for the evening. Dr. Christy Hamilton, Director of Nursing, welcomed attendees and introduced the program, congratulating the graduates.
Dr. Scott Cook, President of Dyersburg State Community College, shared inspiring remarks, emphasizing the hard work and dedication required to succeed in the nursing field. This was followed by the recognition of class officers by Ms. Michelle Davis, celebrating the leadership shown by these individuals throughout their journey.
A message from Traditional Class President Mr. Erik Wallace addressed the audience, articulating the pride and joy he felt about his shared accomplishments while looking forward to his future in nursing.
The ceremony also honored exceptional contributions within the nursing program. Awards were presented, including the Friend of Nursing Award by Ms. Lori Turner to Mr. Zach Pinner. Ms. Kim Chrestman presented the Scholastic Award to Ms. Taylor Sanders with a 3.76 GPA. Mr. W.C. Robinson presented the Clinical Practice Award to Benita Poindexter. The Peggy Pendergrast Faculty Award was given by Dr. Abby Brundige to Kennan Stovall, honoring those who made a lasting impact on the students’ educational journeys. Mr. Craig Metcalf presented the Friendship Award to Ryleigh Burrow for fostering a sense of camaraderie among the graduates.
As the ceremony progressed, Dr. Megan Matheson presented the graduates of the Traditional Nursing Class, one by one. The highlight of the evening was the symbolic Lighting of Lamps led by Ms. Darian Hudson, Mr. Mike Embrey, and Ms. Tammy Hines. This was followed by Ms. Dawn Chalk reciting the Nightingale Pledge, signifying the graduates’ commitment to their profession.
The ceremony concluded with a benediction by Ms. Hannah Stephens, leaving the graduates and guests filled with hope and pride as they envisioned the bright futures awaiting the nursing class.
