
Memphis, Tenn.–“Elvis Radio” DJ and Paris Native Jim Sykes passed away suddenly Wednesday and condolences from his many friends and admirers have been pouring in.
Sykes, who was known as “Big Jim Sykes”, was a Henry County High School graduate and worked at the former WAKQ-FM (KQ-105) and WMUF in Paris and at 92.3 in Jackson before moving on to the “Elvis Radio” channel on SiriusXM satellite radio. He broadcast from the grounds of Graceland in Memphis.
Sykes was 62, born July 5, 1963.
Memphis DJ Argo said, “Big Jim was known for the warmth and enthusiasm he brought to every broadcast. Through his work, he helped keep Elvis’s legacy alive for generations of listeners and created a sense of community for fans everywhere. While his passing was sudden, tributes are already pouring in from listeners, fellow broadcasters, and Elvis fans who remember Big Jim not just for his voice, but for his kindness, passion, and generosity of spirit.

Funeral arrangements have not yet been announced.
