HCHS Speech Team Places 3rd In Alabama Tourney

Paris, Tenn.–The Henry County High School Speech Team did very well over the weekend at the University of Alabama Hall of Fame Tournament. Competing against teams from North Carolina, Florida, Tennessee and Alabama, the team of only six students placed 3rd overall.
Two very competitive Alabama teams, LAMP High School and Vestavia Hills placed first and second respectively. The tournament took place over two days with over 250 entries competing.
The following students placed in their individual events:
Joshua Lancaster – Tournament Champion in Dramatic Interpretation
Canaan Barrow – 2nd in Dramatic, 3rd in Prose and 6th in Original Oratory
AJ Wardlaw – 4th in Dramatic and 6th in Poetry
Timothy Tyler – 2nd in Humorous Interpretation
Maple Townsend and Logan Barnhart contributed to the teams success in the preliminary rounds.
The team has a few local tournaments remaining before their trip to The Harvard Invitational in Boston, February 13th-16th.
The team is coached by Mr. David Weatherly.
