Community Warming Shelter To Open In Paris

The Paris Police Department is advising residents that a community warming shelter is scheduled to open in response to forecasted extreme cold temperatures.
The shelter will operate at the Inman School Tornado Shelter to provide a safe and warm location for individuals affected by the weather.
Scheduled Opening: Friday afternoon, January 23, 2026
Planned Duration: Through at least Monday morning, January 26, 2026
(All visitors must vacate when school resumes.)
What to Expect
• Cots and blankets will be provided
• No food will be available
• No pets are permitted
• Visitors are expected to clean up after themselves
For safety purposes, the Paris Police Department and Henry County Sheriff’s Office will conduct routine security checks and monitor the facility.
Residents who anticipate being without heat or power during this weather event are encouraged to plan ahead and utilize this resource if needed.
