Paris-Henry County- Henry County Leadership class of 2025-2026 Group #1 is launching Grandfriends, a new community initiative designed to address the growing epidemic of loneliness by fostering meaningful connections between generations.
With nearly one in two U.S. adults experiencing loneliness, Grandfriends brings volunteers together with adults who are unable to live independently, creating supportive relationships that improve mental health, quality of life, and overall well being.
Led by Henry County Leadership Group #1, the program’s initial goal is to connect at least 11 local adults with dedicated “Grandfriends” over the next year. Participants will meet at least once a month to share meals, play games, enjoy outings, take scenic drives, and provide companionship and regular check-ins.
Grandfriends will begin by partnering with RoseStone Retirement Community, working closely with staff to ensure meaningful, interest-based connections. Grandfriends hopes to expand as more interest is gained.
By encouraging simple but consistent human connection, Grandfriends aims to ease isolation and strengthen the sense of belonging across Henry County.
