Paris, Tenn.–The Paris Police Department has recently added a new speed trailer as part of ongoing efforts to improve traffic safety throughout the community.
The speed trailer will be used in various locations across the city to help monitor vehicle speeds, encourage safer driving habits, and assist the Police Department in responding to public concerns.
Why the Speed Trailer is Being Used
The purpose of the speed trailer is to promote safer roadways for everyone. Speeding is one of the most common concerns reported to the Paris Police Department, especially in residential neighborhoods and other high-traffic areas.
The speed trailer displays a vehicle’s speed in real time, serving as a visible reminder for drivers to slow down and obey posted speed limits.
Where It Will Be Located
The speed trailer will be moved periodically and will be placed in locations that correlate with areas where the Police Department receives frequent speeding complaints. This will allow the department to better understand traffic patterns and focus enforcement efforts where they are needed most.
No Tickets Will Be Issued
The Paris Police Department would also like to clarify that this trailer will not be issuing tickets.
The trailer is being used strictly as a tool to collect speed and traffic data, which can help guide future traffic enforcement strategies and improve overall public safety.
A Reminder to Drivers
The City of Paris encourages all motorists to drive responsibly, remain alert, and obey posted speed limits. Safe driving protects not only you, but also pedestrians, children, cyclists, and other drivers sharing the roadway.
The Paris Police Department appreciates the public’s cooperation as we work together to keep our community safe.
